What is Sexual Harassment?
According to Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013. Sexual harassment is any unwelcome sexually determined behavior, such as:-
- Physical contact.
- A demand or request for sexual favors.
- Sexually colored remarks.
- Showing pornography.
- Any other physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature
Who is covered under College Policy on Prevention of Sexual Harassment?
While sexual harassment is an issue that can affect men and women alike, more commonly women in workplaces tend to bear the brunt of these unfortunate incidents. The policy is gender neutral and covers with equal rigour both women and men, including same-sex harassment and it covers everyone on the campus, irrespective of gender and age. The objective is to facilitate a safe place for education and employment for everyone here, and transcending all sorts of hierarchy, the policy is applicable even to the third parties who are involved with the institution in any manner.
Objectives Of the Committee :
- To prevent sexual harassment by ensuring safe working environment for women employees and girl students.
- To promote gender amity among students, staff and other employees.
- To deal with cases of sexual harassment in a time bound manner.
- To recommend appropriate redressal and punitive action against the guilty to the management.
